Dr. Ramsay Dass presents the Michigan House of Representative's Resolution to declare October 18 as the American Middle East Christian Day

On August 30, 2019, Dr. Ramsay Dass, President of the American Middle East Christians Congress, presented the State of Michigan's House of Representative's Resolution to declare October 18 as American Middle East Christian Day in the State of Michigan. This is a yearly tradition. This was presented to His Holiness Mar Gewargis III, Catholicos Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East, and Bishop Mar Paulos Benjamin. We discussed the importance of such resolutions and recognitions to the American Middle East Christians in Michigan and the United States. Also, we discussed the merit of such resolutions. 

 

 

Dr. Ramsay Dass meets with His Holiness Mar Gewargis III, Catholicos Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East

On August 30, 2019, Dr. Ramsay Dass, President of the American Middle East Christians Congress, met with His Holiness Mar Gewargis III, Catholicos Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East. There was a long discussion regarding the Middle East Christians in the Middle East and the Middle East Christians in the United States. There was a frank discussion regarding their presence in the Middle East, their heritage, aspirations, and survival. His Holiness was very frank and open regarding these topics. Dr. Dass presented His Holiness with the fifth edition of his book, The Untold Story. Bishop Mar Paulos Benjamin was also in attendance.

On Tuesday, June 25, 2019, Dr. Ramsay Dass, president of the American Middle East Christians Congress, presented the Honorable Jessica Cooper, Oakland County Prosecutor, with the latest edition of The Untold Story. They discussed its contents and issues related to the American Middle East community.

Dr. Ramsay Dass meets with Cardinal Leonardo Sandri

Cardinal Leonardo Sandri is the Perfect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches since 2007 and the Grand Chancellor of the Pontifical Oriental Institute of the Vatican now serving the Holy See and Pope Francis. He is considered one of the top advisors to the Pope.

The legistlators of the State of Michigan declare October 18, 2018 as American Middle East Christian Day

On October 4th 2018, the legistlators of the State of Michigan declare October 18 as American Middle East Christian Day.

The resolution was prepared in coordination with the American Middle East Christian Congress which will host an event on Oct. 18, 2018, to bring together church leaders of communities in Michigan including Arab Christians, Armenians, Assyrians, Chaldeans, Coptics, Maronites, Phoenicians and Syriacs.

“There are more than six million Middle East Christians across the United States with half of a million living here in Michigan,” Rep. Runestad said. “It is an honor for Michigan to acknowledge the accomplishments and contributions of American Middle East Christians and remember the challenges they have faced globally.”

Dr. Ramsay Dass, president of the American Middle East Christian Congress, was present for the passage of the resolution on the floor of the House of Representatives Thursday.

“On Sept. 11, 2001, the American Middle East Christians Congress was created at the request of many church and community leaders with the goal of protecting and educating community members and promoting and understanding of our origin, culture, and societal and economic impact in the United States,” Dass said.
